This was to be a surprise 60th Birthday party, at Godalming Rugby Club. The setup was easy, and the sound in the room was great, with friendly and helpful staff…. all pointing to a great night ahead. As the guests started arriving, it became obvious that it was a Hawaii Themed night… or some kind of beach party vibe. Enter Andy and his lovely wife Karen, and at around 8, the party started.
I had warned Karen that the guests would take a while to get going, but we had nothing to worry about on that front – there was plenty of dancing from the very first song. Towards the end of the first break, there were speeches, and the band had a chance to hear what a top bloke Andy was – it was obvious he is much loved by friends and family, and it showed in the response form the guests.
Second set pushed on, and the dancing became more energetic, with a few guests momentarily toppling over… nothing hurt though.
It was a great night – a really nice venue to play, with really good sound – which helps when you have a live band 😉 Happy birthday Andy, and thanks to Karen and the family for making us feel so welcome!
