Congratulations Lauren and Padraig. This was a private marquee wedding in Cowden – and what a stunning setting! Great views, beautiful gardens and house. It was all held together under the watchful eye of wedding planner Aimee Dunne ( www.aimeedunne.com ). The marquee was stunning inside – very original in design, with an octagonal dance floor. Catering was being handled by one of the top companies in the business, Too Many Cooks – it was a joy to sample their fine cuisine. A surprise performance by the Secret Singers – waiters who were actually singers, who grabbed mics and entertained the seated masses – preceded the speeches. After that, we took to the stage – with a great reception – again, fantastic to play to a mixed Irish / English crowd ( and actually folk from all round the world ). In the break, an Amy Winehouse tribute act took to the dance floor / stage, who wowed the crowds, with a fairly true to life performance (great voice). At this point, curries, mixed stews, and bacon baps were being served – and if that wasn’t to your taste, then a splendid cheese board, with world famous carrot chutney was on offer. As people continued to dress up for the photo-booth-in-a-taxi outside, we pushed on with our set, and finished playing at 1am. With Jason on fiddle, it was a top show, and one to remember!
They were a great crowd, and it was a fantastic event to play – as close to a high end festival as a wedding could get, with the interactions with the different acts, and the attention to detail, from the fairy lights in the trees, the chill out area, the constant supply of food and beverages, the friendly, professional security staff (colourful characters, great to chat to), the lovely house (could easily of featured on grand designs – awesome table football… Chris was the king in this area) … and the plethora of entertainment for the guests (did I mention the swing jazz band on the lawn). As to the bride and groom – they were a lovely couple, as always, a joy to see them moving hand in hand on the dance floor.
Thanks to all for looking after us, best of luck in the future! [flickr-gallery mode=”photoset” photoset=”72157635346179175″]
