This is a part of the world Rollercoaster are familiar with – one wedding leads to another, various shows at the Cheltenham Festival, and now The Sound Of Hounds Ball in Tewksbury.
Set in a large marquee in an open field on the Southwick Farm, it was a great location. We were greeted by the very beautiful Camilla and friends, who set the scene for the glamorous night to follow. The guests arrived and were served bubbly as the sun went down. The catering was splendid (as encountered previously at Tiff and Hannahs weddings – https://www.rollercoasterband.co.uk/weddings1/hannah-and-tiff-wedding-marquee-in-ashleworth-gloucester/ – and the band were served the larges cottagest pie we had ever seen. This led on to stimulating conversations with the guests, as the night drew in… it was great having our own ‘back-stage’ marquee to relax and watch the crowds go by in.
After dinner, the meal (and charity auction), we launched into Footloose, and from then on the dance floor remained full. As the night progressed, the crowd grew louder, less steady on their feet (it was rather like an ice rink in the middle), and the dancing went up a level. I imagine that Sunday morning saw a few more bruises than usual.
They were a great crowd to play too – up for dancing to whatever music we pulled out of the bag.
Thanks for the hospitality of the organisers – hopefully we’ll see you all again soon!
