This wasn’t the first 70th Rollercoaster have played, and definitely won’t be the last. These guys definitely knew how to party – and a great little venue to do it in too! They had seen the band about 3 weeks previous at a wedding at Bury Court Barn, so knew what to expect, though were tailored the set to suit the crowd – which meant throwing loads more perish tunes in (Jason was with us on fiddle).
After setting up, we moved our cars from their current locations, as the Thames was on a very high tide, and water was lapping round the wheels. Back inside the venue, daughter Carrie was setting up the decorations, and we finished sound checking as guests were making their early arrivals. We pushed on with the set, and as can be expected, the guests danced, and sang!
It was a fun gig – great as always to play all the Irish tunes to a crowd who can sing along at full voice. Happy birthday Grianan – thanks for looking after us.
