Rollercoaster and Katie have a long history, from the beginning, playing her brothers 21st, then on to playing her friends wedding at Pembroke Lodge, then on to playing the Rugby Football Union Christmas Party at Twickenham… and now, there wedding, at the family home in Guildford. And before that, we had most probably played to her and Tim (the groom) at Guildford Hockey Club events (fun hockey team name ‘The Ladyboys’!!!).
So here we were, with the most stunning view across Guildford and the surrounding areas, with a beautiful and original marquee setup – a tee-pee wigwam style of marquee. Catering was handled by Kalm Catering, who are listed among the best caterers we have worked with… and they didn’t disappoint this time. We setup, then whilst some of the band went shopping…. the others chilled in the family house, enjoying good coffee, quality tv… whilst making friends with the lovely dogs – two golden retrievers.
The rain came, though it was no problem as the guests were all seated…and we quickly rigged up a mic to help them overcome the noise for the speeches. After that, we took to the stage – first dance was Is This Love by Bob Marley. We pushed on, took short break, and played past midnight. We had the pleasure of Alex Keys joint us on keyboards, though without any fiddle players – a format that is becoming all the more popular.
They were a lovely crowd, friendly and energetic. Congratulations to Katie and Tim – best of luck in the future!
