St Patricks is one of the best nights of the year – fact. And The Playboy Club, London, is one of the top club in the country (winner of Best Members Club 2015 at the Cool Venue Awards). Stylish and historic, with a casino upstairs, a private venue one side, and the public access bar the other… and set in the heart of Mayfair, on Park Lane. Just look at a Monopoly board, and it’s where you want to be 😉
We were playing in Salvatore’s Bar, which is open to non-members – this night Steak and Guinness pie with Irish whiskey testing was in full flow. We started early, entertaining the diners, and the room filled out as the night went on. It was great to be able to slip in all the Irish classics, new and old, to a crowd who chilled out and enjoyed.
Towards the end, people started to get to their feet, and helped by the bunny girls enthusiasm, ‘Irish Dancing’ followed (linking arms and spinning around). Everyone was having such good time, we simply carried on, and had a surprise guest (the Lady in Blue) come up and sing Valerie with us. She had a stunning voice, and wowed the crowd to full effect – it was a pleasure to have her with us!
The guest would listen, drink, enjoy, and mix this with heading upstairs, to hopefully ‘Get Lucky’ at the tables in the casino. The final set definitely came together with the party at the Bar… and concluded a thoroughly enjoyable gig. With the obligatory photos with Bunny Girls (with band, and in amongst the equipment… making it look good!).
