Rollercoaster have played at The Diary before – a beautiful venue overlooking a lake – apparently part of the Rothschild estate. The room itself has immense ornate ‘flower pots dotted along its length… so quite an interesting venue to play.
When we arrived, it was immediately apparent that this was going to be a cool and glamorous wedding. The first dance was by the Pogues, sung by Jessica (daughter of the bride), who also played guitar. She sang it beautifully – perfect pitch and playing… it wouldn’t have been out of place on the Dermot O’Leary Show on Radio 2. An absolute pleasure to behold, and a tough one to follow!
After the first dance, we pushed straight into the Ceilidh, which Jason did a great job arranging the dancers around the giant ‘flower pots’. We then continued with the standard set, with a short break to allow DJ Ross to spin his tunes (a family friend of the bride / groom).
We closed with 500 Miles, as requested, then handed back over to DJ Ross for the final 30 minutes. Great crowd, some top air guitar from Jamie the groom…. a really nice bunch to play to.
Best of luck in the future – hopefully see you all soon!
