Congratulation Tom and Helen. Loseley is a home from home for Rollercoaster, having played many weddings and parties there over the past 10 years. It’s a superb venue, with enough room for a dance floor AND dining area, in the one room. This is ideal, as the band can setup whilst the meal is taking place – and there is a curtain that pulls across. Catering was the now in house company of Caper and Berry – and it was truly superb, which is good to see.
Alistair has known Tom from many years ago- from an open mic night Alistair ran at a pub in Guildford called The Powerhouse ( www.openmicnight.co.uk ). It was at this night, Alistair used to play a song called Tribute, by Tenacious D (and he still does)… and for nostalgias sake, Tom requested we play it at his wedding!!!
First dance was One Day Like This (we had the remarkable fiddler Jason joining us to embellish the strings), and from then on the night pushed on in true party spirit. I can honestly say, there wasn’t a lull of any kind… they were a great crowd. We played 3 sets – after the first was a beautiful firework display outside, which lit up the stunning gardens of Loseley. We played Tribute at the start of the 3rd set – which got the crowd singing away (loads of folk seem to know it – after all, it is ‘the best song in the world…’)
We ended on Tribute – then encored on Champagne Supernova, followed by Daydream Believer. Top crowd – Helen looked stunning throughout, and Tom beamed continuously… a lovely sight to behold – the perfect wedding vibe to play to!
Thanks for looking after us – best of luck in the future!
